WAYS TO HELP PREVENT
KNEE INJURIES
 |
Use the cleat less
shoes, as many pro teams do. |
 |
If you play contact
sports, run with short, choppy steps. If you anticipate being hit,
shorten your stride. |
 |
If possible, protect
your knees from a hit, especially from the back and side. |
 |
Exercise the muscle
around the knee. This will increase the strength of the knee. |
 |
Don't do full squats
with heavy weight. |
WHAT TO DO IF YOU
HAVE INJURED
YOUR KNEE
 |
Rest your knee. |
 |
Ice your knee for 20
minutes each hour. |
 |
Apply a compressive
wrap. |
 |
Elevate your knee. |
 |
See your sports
medicine physician as soon as possible. |
If you have a chronic knee
problem, see myself or your personal sports medicine physician for a proper evaluation.
Many times, your condition can be treated and improved or eliminated by proper
care.
